Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards within a healthcare, pharmaceutical, hospital, or doctors' group setting. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry and a strong understanding of the unique financial processes and regulations in these sectors. This position has hybrid flexibility after six months.
Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Management:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and allocations.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process vendor invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payment of expenses.
- Manage billing and collections, including patient billing (if applicable), insurance claims, and reimbursements.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue payments.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Compliance & Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and other relevant healthcare financial standards.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and supporting the audit process.
- Expense Management:
- Monitor and track departmental expenses, ensuring adherence to budget guidelines.
- Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with other departments, including billing, payroll, and procurement, to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
- Provide financial insights and support to management for decision-making purposes.
