Role: Staff Accountant
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000/annually + Benefits
Location: Midtown, Manhattan (*5 days a week in office*)
Job Summary:
The Property Staff Accountant is responsible for providing comprehensive financial support to the property management team. This role will involve a variety of accounting tasks, including general ledger entries, financial reporting, bank reconciliations, and account payable/receivable management. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a passion for real estate accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- General ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, such as monthly income statements and balance sheets
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and tenant collections
- Assist with bank reconciliations and cash flow management
- Prepare and file required tax returns
- Ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1-3 years of experience in property management accounting preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles
- Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi, MRI, MDS, or similar)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with property tax returns
- Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting
- Experience with affordable housing programs
