Salary Range: $70,000-$75,000
Position Overview: The Staff Accountant, will be responsible for recording financial transactions, analyzing financial information, and preparing reports with a focus on all accounting transactions related to high value inventory and fixed assets. In this role the senior staff accounting will take on traditional accounting duties, playing an active role in the daily and monthly timely recording of transactions.
Responsibilities:
Daily (50%):
- Update reports and post transactions for operating bank accounts
- Post daily transactions for Sales, A/R, and Refining Lots to the General Ledger
- Assist customers with account inquiries via phone as needed
- Post weekly payroll transactions to General Ledger
- Prepare reconciliations of sales, product purchases, and accruals for precious metal
- Process Refining payments as ACHs
- Maintain perpetual inventory ledger
- Monitor all leased metal balances & lease reporting and compliance
- Manages & purchases metal from outside vendors
- Assist with the transition from legacy system to Microsoft Dynamics Business Central to ensure accurate inventory counts both book and physical
Monthly (40%):
- Reconciles book inventory
- Prepare state sales tax filings
- Prepares monthly Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) entry
- Coordinate and prepare all month-end closing journal entries
- Prepare monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Prepare purchase of metals summary
- Tracks & Accounts for all outside refiner's settlements & charges including related monthly journal entries
- Responsible for Monthly Metal Bank Compliance Report
- Coordinates Monthly Physical Inventory
- Reconciles Monthly Physical Inventory to General Ledger
- Record wire transfers into General Ledger
- Maintain accounting for all employee benefit programs
- Maintain subsidiary ledger for affiliates
- Assist with monthly financial reporting and analysis
Quarterly/Annual (10%):
- Assist with audit requests and "Prepared by Client" schedules
- Coordinate preparation of 1099s annually
- Special Projects as assigned
- Assists with responsible metal documentation and annual audit
- Provide necessary audit schedules relating to inventory
- Responsible for reporting as required by government agencies
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience in accounting required; exposure to manufacturing or production environment preferred
- Bachelor's Degree Accounting preferred
- Proficiency in MS Excel is required
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a timely and independent manner
- Self-starter with the ability to complete projects from problem identification to solution implementation
- Good communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
