Overview:

The position reports directly to the Director of Finance and is responsible for all day-to-day accounting functions associated with, but not limited to the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and bi-weekly payroll processing. In addition to monitoring, controlling, and auditing for accuracy and compliance of all accounting transactions. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented yet big picture sensitive, highly organized, and driven to excel in helping lead in the development of a comprehensive financial infrastructure that will be crucial to helping drive the success of the company.

 

This role will pay an hourly rate between $17 to $19

Responsibilities:

• Process and prepare accounts payable invoices.
• Detail processing for accounts receivable, and collection calls for outstanding payments.
• Oversee payroll processing through ADP and posting to general ledger.
• Process cash receipts for box office; and record transactions.
• Assist, coordinate, and supervise the selling of event merchandise, as needed.
• Verify post original entries to subsidiary and general ledger accounts; run trial balances; prepare sales statements.
• Assist with month end closing procedures.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Perform related professional accounting work in support of accounting functions.
• Apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to accounting and auditing work.
• Examine and verify a variety of financial documents and reports.
• Assist in end of month Food & Beverage inventory counts.
• Verifies and checks the accuracy of general ledger coding.
• Assist with other office duties as needed.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
• Assist with after-hours events when needed.

Qualifications:

• One year of professional accounting experience preferred.
• An Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a closely related field preferred.
• Ability to accurately handle large sums of money.
• Knowledge of Sage 100 and ADP HR/Payroll Software preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

 

Physical demands:

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc.; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.

 

Work environment:

• The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
