JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with regulations, and supporting the overall financial operations of the company. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General Ledger Management:
Assist in maintaining the general ledger by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate financial data. - Accounts Payable/Receivable:
Perform the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial data. - Month-End Close:
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and variance analysis. - Bank Reconciliations:
Perform bank reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of any discrepancies. - Financial Reporting:
Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for management review. - Payroll Support:
Assist in payroll processing, including reviewing timecards, calculating hours, and ensuring compliance with payroll laws and regulations. - Tax Compliance:
Support tax preparation and filing processes, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. - Audit Assistance:
Provide support during audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor requests. - Budgeting & Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts by gathering financial data and providing analysis. - Process Improvement:
Identify areas for process improvement and work with the finance team to implement more efficient accounting procedures.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance roles. Experience in manufacturing or home remodeling industries is a plus.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; advanced QuickBooks and Excel skills required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Excellent analytical and organizational abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and other departments.
