Job Title: Staff Data Engineer

Location: Irving, TX (Onsite 4 days per week)

Overview: Our client is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to design, build, and implement key components of the enterprise data platform, aligning with the company's strategic data and analytics needs. This role is pivotal in developing a cross-business unit data tier to enhance our products and deliver insights.

Key Technical Skills: Azure Dev Ops, Azure Data Factory, Scripting (Powershell or Python), SQL. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement data engineering solutions for the full data lifecycle.

• Utilize Azure DevOps for tactical implementation of data strategy and roadmap.

• Develop ETL and data pipeline capabilities for organizational and partner use.

• Implement built-in quality and compliance-by-design in all data solutions.

• Incorporate unstructured data and big data methodologies.

• Lead implementation of recommendations from Data Governance and Enterprise Architecture.

• Actively participate in data architecture decisions.

• Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to understand requirements.

• Provide technical mentorship to team members and data professionals.

• Perform data exploration and profiling as needed.

Qualifications:

• Must-Have:

  • 5+ years in data engineering, with expertise in ETL, data warehouses, database principles, and related tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory).

  • 3+ years designing, implementing, and supporting cloud data solutions (Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure DevOps CI/CD).

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or PowerShell.

  • Expert-level experience with one RDBMS and query language (T-SQL, PL/SQL, Spark SQL).

• Preferred:

  • Experience in Agile, SAFe, or Scrum methodologies.

  • Familiarity with data quality, data catalog, and data lineage tools (Informatica IDMC).

  • Relevant Azure certifications (Azure Fundamentals, Azure Data Engineer, Azure Data Scientist, and/or Azure DevOps Engineer).

  • Industry experience in banking, financial services, or other regulated industries.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience in data management and analytics.

Technical Skills:

• Experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data design.

• Proficiency with design tools for creating architecture diagrams and data flow diagrams (Visio, Archimate, Lucidchart).

• Familiarity with data science and analytics tools (SPSS, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI).

• Experience with multi-cloud data management and transformation platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Matillion).
