Staffing Coordinator/Medical Records
Summary:
Responsible for scheduling nursing staff to meet facility, state and federal requirements.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining resident medical records in accordance with policies and state and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
One year of experience in long term care, C.N.A. preferred.
Two years’ experience as a Medical Records Clerk or with record keeping responsibility in a doctor’s office.
Essential Functions:
Develops and posts work schedules at least two weeks prior schedule start.
Contacts replacement personnel and modifies schedule when required.
Maintains a current listing of employee contact numbers for call-in
Coordinates time off requests with the Director of Nursing
Notifies Director of Nursing of short staffing situations.
Maintains a record of employees that miss shifts and produces reports.
Coordinates with Director of Nursing to secure contract labor when required.
Maintains an organized and neat storage area.
Ensures medical records are complete, assembled in standard order, and filed appropriately.
Locates, signs out, and delivers medical records and follows-up to ensure they are returned.
Complies statistical data such as admissions, discharges, deaths, births, and types of treatment given.
Operates a computer to enter and retrieve data, type correspondence and produce reports.
Restricts access to resident medical records to those staff members with a valid requirements.
Files documents in accordance with established procedures.
Maintains, retains and archives files in accordance with Company policy and State and Federal regulations.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization.
Ability to be accurate, concise and detail oriented.
Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
Ability to operate a Personal Computer.
Knowledge of overtime regulations.
Ability to read and comprehend at levels necessary to perform job duties appropriately.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff members and vendors.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of resident information and privacy regulations
Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce.
