Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Staffing Coordinator, Part Time - NSG-Scheduling - 02:00 PM - 10:00 PM.
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures will utilize the automated nurse staffing office system. Gather interpret and input information to develop reports and monitor staffing data. Serves as receptionist maintains files and uses discretion and judgement when screening visitors and telephone calls. Organizes work load to meet established priorities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develops optimal staffing schedule based on employee needs unit coverage and hospital policies
- Obtains data regarding nursing coverage staffing patterns and work productivity
- Generates daily weekly or monthly schedules for unit or individual employees
- Revises Kronos system on a daily basis in response to sick calls voluntary/mandatory overtime and benefit time adjustments

- Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls nbsp; Notifies appropriate personnel or accurately records messages
- Communicates effectively with staff and management and provides information demonstrating ordinary courtesy and tact
- Ensures confidence of staff by maintaining confidentiality on all levels
- Works collaboratively and accepts assignments willingly
- Responds to fluctuations in workload by helping to complete tasks of another staff member
- Demonstrates awareness and participates in processes that support customer satisfaction
- Seeks out Nursing Management to address issues that require their assistance to resolve
- Maintains personal appearance as outlined in organizational guidelines
- Utilizes appropriate technique when answering the telephone
- Answers telephone calls in a friendly and courteous manner
- Responds and records voicemail messages promptly
- Demonstrates ability to access the hospital in house paging system
- Demonstrates the ability to use copy and fax machines in a discretionary and efficient manner
- Fluent in Microsoft Outlook
- Utilizes e mail as primary source of communication and documentation
- Adheres to all processes related to e mail communication
- Responds to email generated workflows in a prompt and efficient manner
- Generates e mail in a professional coherent manner nbsp;
- Coordinates staffing needs on all nursing units nbsp; Makes all attempts to cover sick calls and disability vacancies with appropriate nursing personnel following protocol and completing necessary documentation
- Maintains organized accurate records and documents for hospital nursing staff
- Works with Nurse Managers Assistant Directors of Nursing and Nursing Administrative Supervisors to ensure optimum staffing on all units for all shifts
- Documents cancellation of shifts and assists in gathering attendance records for performance appraisals on an ad hoc basis
- Obtains physician signatures on death certificates for all expirations nbsp; Assists in coordinating information needed for autopsy and medical examiner cases with direction and follow up to the AND and NAS team Assists in referrals to Care Management as needed
- Orders and maintains supplies necessary for efficient functioning of the department by following the appropriate approval process
- Makes efficient use of work time to allow for unforeseen problems
- Attends educational programs when applicable to job duties and responsibilities
- Demonstrates accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Demonstrates knowledge of specific computer programming
- Documents accurately and legibly on all documents
- Promotes a professional and collegial work environment
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Ability to read and write at a level normally acquired through completion of high school Business background with strong technical abilities knowledge of use of standard office equipment such as photocopy machines and computers at a level normally acquired through completion of Business School or related job experience Requires approximately three to six months on the job experience in order to gain understanding of departmental policies and procedures Requires analytical skills necessary to maintain and retrieve data and organize work load according to established priorities Requires interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with hospital personnel medical staff and patients or family Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail to complete required services in accordance with established schedules and deadlines

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $23.92 - $23.92 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
