Mission Hospital was founded in Mission Viejo in 1971 and has continued to develop new programs and services to meet the ever changing needs of the community. In 1993, Mission Hospital partnered with CHOC Children’s to provide pediatric services and a year later, became a member of the St. Joseph Health network of care. In 2009, Mission Hospital expanded its geographic footprint to include south Orange County’s coast line by acquiring Mission Hospital Laguna Beach.Within the role of technician, leader, and teacher, the Sterile Processing Technician demonstrates the technical expertise to practice at the SPD Tech level, and in addition, assume responsibility for complex instrumentation (i.e. Ortho, Neuro, and/or ENT) maintenance and development in conjunction with the SPD Supervisor, SPD Clinical Manager, Surgery Specialty Techs and/or Surgery Clinical Nurse. Promotes and improves the quality of unit daily operations, participates in the development of technical practice standards; assists in training and orienting new staff members; and education of SPT I and SPT II regarding instrumentation within designated specialty. Provide for ongoing education regarding designated specialty instrumentation for all SPD staff. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that model the SJHS Core Values and the Hospital’s mission statement.
