Summary of Responsibilities
The Store Supervisor is responsible for supporting various departments as needed, providing coverage and support for team members during peak periods or staff absences. You will work closely with the store manager and team members to identify areas where extra support is required and provide guidance and assistance to ensure that operations continue to run smoothly. You will be a key liaison between departments, ensuring that communication is clear and consistent across teams. You will be responsible for ensuring operations are running optimally at times when the general manager is not available.
Essential Duties
The store supervisor will play an important role in the overall function of the store. The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:
Provide coverage and support for various departments as needed
Collaborate with departments to identify areas where additional support is required
Collaborate with departments to ensure clear and consistent communication
Train and support new team members
Help to develop and implement processes and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity
Monitor team performance and provide feedback to department leads
Identify opportunities for process improvements and work with department heads to implement changes
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Encourages a team environment, and positive work culture
Ability to be flexible with changing business needs and environment
Open availability -will be required to work closing shifts when needed
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
Skills and Abilities
Based on the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, the floating manager should have a number of skills and abilities:
Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers
The ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, while encouraging a team atmosphere
The ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and meet assigned deadlines
Flexibility in schedule and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
Based on the responsibilities of the position, it is preferred that the store supervisor possess the following:
Bachelor's degree preferred
3+ years of experience in a supervisory role
Experience working in multiple departments or cross-functional teams
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Reliably commuting, or planning to relocate before beginning employment preferred
Physical and Environmental
The store supervisor position is located within a retail grocery environment and may experience both hot and cold temperatures throughout the working day. Physical requirements include:
Regularly lifting up to 50 pounds
Fumes from ovens, grease, smoke, cleaning agents and from other departments
Manual dexterity to use equipment within the store
