Job Summary:
The Structural Designer will be responsible for creating and developing custom packaging solutions, point-of-purchase displays, and other print materials. You will collaborate with sales, production, and design teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions that meet client specifications and deadlines. Your role will involve translating concepts into practical designs, ensuring structural integrity, and preparing detailed specifications for production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and design packaging structures, displays, and other custom print materials from concept to completion.
- Work with sales and project managers to understand client needs and provide design solutions.
- Utilize design software (e.g., CAD software, Adobe Creative Suite and 3D rendering programs) to create detailed structural designs and technical drawings.
- Ensure designs are optimized for production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare mock-ups and prototypes for client approval and internal review.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
- Troubleshoot any structural issues during the production process.
- Stay updated on new materials, trends, and techniques in the packaging and printing industry.
- Maintain project timelines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering Design preferred.
- 5 years of experience in structural design, preferably in the commercial printing or packaging industry.
- Proficiency in design software such as Artios CAD, Impact CAD, and Adobe Creative.
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and printing techniques.
- Ability to visualize and create 3D structures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal, written and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with prototyping tools and methods.
- Applicant should be a self-starter and able to work independently with minimal direction.
