WSP is currently initiating a search for a Structural Engineer for our Boston, MA office. The following locations will also be considered: Worcester, MA; Merrimack, NH; Eliot, ME; Providence, RI; Glastonbury, CT. Be involved in projects with our Structures Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- Perform professional structural engineering work and Bridge Design tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Assist in the preparation of contract drawings and specifications.
- Preparation of design calculations for medium and long span bridge replacement projects.
- Strong knowledge with structural analysis software and CADD (AutoCAD and/or Microstation).
- Perform load rating analysis and evaluation of existing structures for repairs/retrofits.
- Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work, assist with laying out installations, establishing reference points/elevations/grades to guide construction, selecting appropriate materials to ensure durability, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural or bridge transportation projects.
- EIT/FE Certification.
- Proficiency in applicable national standards such as AASHTO.
- Proficiency with MassDOT, MBTA, ConnDOT, MaineDOT, RIDOT, VTrans and/or NHDOT standards standards, specifications and procedures.
- Hands on experience with structural analysis software and CADD (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- BIM software capabilities.
- Working knowledge of AASHTOWare BrR software.
