Structural Engineer - Forensic Rehabilitation and Design Engineering - Base Salary to 85k/year - Phoenix, AZ
- Our client is renowned for a strong reputation and integrity with a near 50-year history. They are currently seeking a Structural Engineer for their team in Phoenix. This is a great opportunity to learn and be mentored by experienced engineers within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct forensic investigations to document as-constructed building conditions and determine the causes of structural failures, defects, and other issues.
- Prepare comprehensive investigative reports on the reasons and causes involved in construction defects and disputes between owners, contractors, developers, government agencies, and other parties.
- Design repairs and rehabilitation solutions based on investigative findings.
- Common Projects Include: Schools, hotels, parking garages, office buildings, airport terminals and hangers, government buildings, municipal buildings, museums, auditoriums, assisted living, dormitories, and warehouses.
- Perform structural calculations and peer reviews of structural designs to ensure compliance with relevant building codes and standards.
- Generate construction documents and specifications for rehabilitation and repair projects.
- Conduct field investigations for repair projects, documenting conditions and verifying compliance during construction.
- Collaborate with owners, engineers, contractors, and technical staff to develop and implement cost-effective and efficient solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest engineering software and technologies, including RISA 3D, RISAFloor, EnerCalc, and AutoCAD, to enhance project accuracy and efficiency.
- Consult with design engineers on projects requiring specialized experience, including those involving structural failures, collapses, fires, or corrosion.
- Handle cases involving construction defects, contract disputes, errors and omissions, negligence, paving issues, construction staking, easements, flooding and flood damages, erosion control, and wastewater systems.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
- 0+ years of experience in structural engineering with an emphasis on forensic investigations.
- Recent civil engineering graduates considered
- E.I.T. Engineer In Training preferred
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to perform complex design calculations and generate comprehensive construction documents.
- Ability to conduct field investigations and prepare detailed technical reports and design specifications.
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 65k – 85k/year range.
