We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our construction projects, providing accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural steel components. This position is integral to our project planning and execution, and the successful candidate will have a direct impact on the success of our projects, our client satisfaction, and our bottom line.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel components in construction projects, including material, labor, equipment, and time requirements.
- Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to identify all necessary steel components and calculate the associated costs.
- Develop detailed proposals for clients, clearly outlining the scope of work, the cost breakdown, and the timeline.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to verify measurements and conditions, and adjust estimates as necessary.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure that estimates align with project plans and schedules.
- Monitor the progress of projects to identify deviations from the estimate and adjust future estimates accordingly.
- Stay informed about the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and market conditions that may affect cost estimates.
- Participate in project meetings and discussions with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel estimating in the construction industry.
- Proven experience with framing, site work, steel, metal, and proposals.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Proficient with estimating software and tools, as well as standard office software such as MS Office.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
