About the Job
Role Overview:
Our client is seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to provide comprehensive assessments, counseling, and referrals for clients with substance abuse challenges. The Counselor will collaborate with clients and staff to develop service plans, monitor program attendance, and document all services provided.
Compensation: Temp: $22.00 / HR | Perm: $42,000.00 - $46,000.00
Location: Bronx, New York
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm
Responsibilities:
Conduct initial and annual substance abuse assessments
Collaborate on the development of comprehensive service plans and revisions
Provide individual and group substance abuse counseling
Make referrals to community-based substance abuse programs
Document all services in a timely and accurate manner
Participate in trainings, workshops, case conferences and meetings
Arrange for in-patient substance abuse treatment as needed
Educate clients and staff on harm reduction principles
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
CASAC, CASAC-T, or LCSW certification required
3-5 years of substance abuse counseling experience
Experience working with individuals with HIV/AIDS, mental illness, and/or chemical dependence preferred
Extensive knowledge of substance abuse principles, practices, and community resources
Knowledge of HRA Desk Guide procedures
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple assignments
Cultural sensitivity to diverse populations served
Bilingual in Spanish a plus
