Formal Job Description
- High voltage experience (34.5kV and higher) MANDATORY
- Substation Design Engineer Experience
- Min 5 years experience
- PE certification - highly recommended
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited program
- BSEE Preferred
- Substation design (distribution, sub-transmission, transmission voltage classes)
- Electrical design deliverables (protection and control design, physical design)
- Project management, scheduling, resource planning
- Client, vendor, and subcontractor interfacing
- QA/QC processes
- Mentoring junior engineers
- Familiarity with design guides, standards, systems, and engineering codes
- Equipment/materials research
- Design and develop electrical design deliverables for substations
- Participate in project management and scheduling meetings
- Interface with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Perform quality assurance and quality control on projects
- Mentor and guide junior engineers
- Stay current with design guides, standards, systems, and engineering codes
- Ensure compliance with quality programs and support continuous improvement
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables and conduct equipment/materials research
- Manage budgets, schedules, and quality requirements for projects
- Coordinate with internal and external team members on projects
- Assist with identifying client interests and communicate them to project teams
- Support business development activities
