Baker Design Build is a well-established design and construction company seeking a superintendent to work in Jacksonville, Florida. Qualified candidates have the education, practical experience, and skills to meet the job responsibilities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Superintendent provides the knowledge, skills and experience required to manage the day-to-day field operations of construction projects and is responsible for the production aspects of the work. The Superintendent is accountable for: producing quality work that is constructed consistent with the standard's set forth in the project documents, plans, specifications, and established company standards; for performing the work in a timely and cost-efficient manner and for maintaining a work environment that is clean, orderly, and safe. Provide the forward face of the company and is responsible for establishing a professional work environment that includes fostering a positive atmosphere, promoting proactive and effective communication, facilitating problem solving and for minimizing and resolving conflict in a constructive manner. Provide managerial and leadership skills necessary to accomplish essential functions required to complete the work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Managing day-to-day activities to maintain project schedule and meet milestone dates.
• Creating short-interval look-ahead project schedules to make sure that upcoming project tasks are communicated, tracked, and executed.
• Maintaining daily paperwork such as timecards, field reports, schedule updates and E-mail correspondence.
• Creating and maintaining a culture that values safety, health, and cleanliness on the job site.
• Managing and coordinating the work to ensure that it is constructed in an orderly and deliberate manner that is compliant with the project construction documents.
• Establishing and maintaining all dimensional controls for the project to include the use of third-party survey and layout personnel when appropriate.
• Coordinating all inspections and ensuring that the quality aspects of the physical work are fully documented.
• Ensuring all aspects of the project are compliant with all company standards and legal requirements that govern the project and the community in which the project(s) takes place.
• Conducting and/or attending pre-construction, progress and other project(s) and staff meetings.
• Participating in regularly held company meetings.
• Maintain most up-to-date project documents and verify these documents are being used by all subcontractors.
• Reviewing contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders and other agreements to ensure that the scope, terms and conditions are consistently being met.
• Managing the punch list and project closeout process to assure timely completion.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry, with a focus on commercial and industrial projects.
• A demonstrated understanding of construction means and methods associated with the renovation and construction of commercial and industrial projects.
• The ability to effectively communicate both in the English written and spoken word.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, Email and other software used in the construction industry.
• Current safety credentials include OSHA certification and CPR/Life Safety Certs.
• Current CQM-C Certification and USACE ECATS Certification, a plus.
• Driver’s license with clean driving record.
ENVIROMENTAL FACTORS AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination; and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.

SALARY RANGE
The base salary range for this position is $70,000-$120,000 plus incentives. This range is specific to Jacksonville, FL and the actual salary will be determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
