About the Job
This position will be responsible for the daily supervision of the Coding Resources Team which includes coders, lead coders, and support staff. They will monitor and coordinate all coding, compliance and charge entry functions for the Physicians Enterprise providers. This position ensures through appropriate staffing and effective workflows the accurate and timely coding/charge review process to ensure charges are entered into our billing system timely and accurately. This position must have coding and billing knowledge/experience is necessary to assure compliance with payers, minimizing denials and maximizing reimbursement as appropriate.
Responsibilities:(45%)* Coordinates and plans activities associated with daily management of operational areas. Provides recommendations for department priorities. Conducts monthly staff meetings. Coordinates and participates in departmental process improvement. Works with the Coding Education Supervisor to ensure a quality documentation and coding education program is efficiently operating and meeting monthly deadlines for physician charges/compensation.
(35%)* Responsible for performance reviews for coders, lead coders and support staff. Mentors, coaches, counsels and disciplines staff as needed. Interviews, hires and develops staff. Monitors employee activities to ensure compliance with departmental standards and provides ongoing education and training
(20%)* Establish and monitor employee productivity and quality standards.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stays current with knowledge of coding changes and rules as appropriate. Develops materials for departmental education based on findings.
Acts as a resource for all coding questions in the Coding Resources Department and provide feedback as needed.

Certifications and Licensures:AAPC CPC: AAPC Cert Professional Coder
RHIT: Reg Health Information Tech
RHIA: Registered Health Info Analyst
CCS-P: Cert Coding Spec-Phys Based
E/M CODER: CPC, CCS, CCSP, RHIT, OR RHIA
Required Education:Associate's degree is required
Other Information:
Five (5) years experience in relevant working field with one (1) year supervisory experience preferred.
Must possess strong leadership skills with ability to build and maintain team dynamics and problem solving skills.
Must have strong computer applications knowledge. Knowledge of medical record/patient confidentiality laws.
Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
