Staff physical therapist is responsible for evaluation and treatment of an inpatient caseload. Oversees and directs other physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists and physical therapy students in compliance with federal, state and American Physical Therapy Association guidelines.

LICENSE REQUIRED: Massachusetts Physical Therapy License
EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy
EDUCATION PREFERRED: Masters degree or Doctorate
EXPERIENCE PREFFERED: At least three years experience as a physical therapist preferred and supervisory experience of at least one year preferred.

+ Complies with all Winchester Hospital policies and the Code of Business Conduct. As required, maintains a current license, life support certification, and tuberculosis testing. Takes responsibility for own safety as well as the safety of patients, patients’ family, co-workers, physicians and other customers.
+ Provides direct patient care in accordance with state and federal regulations and American Physical Therapy Association guidelines. Assesses the patient using methods such as observation, interview, and review of clinical data. Develop individualized plan of care based on assessment and in conjunction with physician orders to achieve desired outcomes; implements plan of care and updates treatment plan and goals as appropriate through ongoing assessment; and directs licensed and unlicensed personnel to implement plan of care. Documents patient care in the medical record.
+ Implements discharge planning process from the time of evaluation and prepares the patient and caregiver through treatment and education.
+ Coordinates and communicates plan of patient care with physicians and other members of health care team, patient, and caregiver. Participates in case conferences and family meetings.
+ Participates in activities to improve patient care outcomes (e.g. Winchester Hospital/ Winchester Home Care committees) as delegated by the Administrative Director.
+ Oversees and directs physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and physical therapy students in compliance with federal, state and American Physical Therapy Association guidelines. Oversees and directs occupational therapists in compliance with federal, state and Occupational Therapy Association guidelines.
+ Sets the caseloads for physical therapists and physical therapy assistants.
+ Schedules rehab staff (PT/PTA/OT) through Active Staffer.
+ Approves time clockings of rehab staff (PT/PTA/OT).
+ Corrects time clockings of rehab staff as necessary (PT/PTA/OT).
+ Prepares quarterly performance improvement report for quality assurance department.
