- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- MONITOR QUALITY CLINICAL PRACTICE AND RESIDENT CARE SERVICE DELIVERY BY:
- Assessing resident status, identifying unstable medical conditions and taking appropriate action.
- Directing the delivery of competent age specific nursing care to , adult and geriatric residents.
- Validating that care is consistent with the medical regimen, long term care goals, the nursing plan of care and age of the resident.
- Maintaining a safe physical environment conducive to the delivery of health care services.
- Conducting rounds on all units to assess residentcare needs.
- Maintaining a resident focused care environment within the philosophy of Good Shepherd and theResident Bill of Rights.
- Representing GOOD SHEPHERD services, philosophy and quality to external customers.
- DEMONSTRATES FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY BY:
- Effectively assigning staff to meet the needs of residents.
- Providing supplies, equipment, medication, and transport services for residents as needed.
- Identifying and providing input to Nurse Managers on work methods that reduce the cost and/or time required to deliver resident care.
- Developing an environment conducive to effective time management for all nursing staff.
- Monitoring budget variances in collaboration with Nurse Managers and assisting with implementing corrective actions and employs conflict resolution techniques.
- DIRECT STAFF TO ACCOMPLISH STAFF JOB RESULTS BY:
- Translating institutional goals, values and objectives to staff and others.
- Establishing and supporting the attainment of departmental goals.
- Assisting the Nurse Managers and Program Directors in effective communication among team members.
- Identifying areas for performance improvement, measuring data, instituting corrective action plans and evaluating results.
- Assuring that non-licensed personnel have achieved competency to carry out their delegated roles and responsibilities.
- Effectively counseling and educating individuals whose performance does not meet standards.
- Acknowledging performance excellence.
- Coaching and mentoring licensed personnel to develop skills and perform expertly in their roles.
- Providing a supportive environment for affiliating students’ learning experiences.
- Assuring compliance with orientation and continuing education requirements of the nursing department and institution.
- Monitoring and managing group dynamics to facilitate team building.
- Objectively assessing the performance of designated associates on an annual basis.
- Orienting and evaluating the competency of agency, float, resource pool and/or per diem associates or delegating the responsibility to an appropriate individual.
- MAINTAINS SAFE AND HEALTHY WORK ENVIRONMENT BY:
- Maintaining compliance with professional, regulatory and governmental standards of care.
- Applying quality improvement techniques to improve deficiencies.
- Reviewing and revising policies, procedures and standards of care including appropriate references.
- Demonstrating knowledge of responsibilities in an emergency situation and conducting drills (Code Blue, Fire, Internal Disaster, Bomb Threat, Priority Alert).
- Responding to visitor injuries if the Employee Health Nurse is unavailable.
- CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT BY:
- Developing channels of communication which will enhance working relations and service delivery between nursing shifts, units and hospitals.
- Establishing cooperative, collaborative relationships among disciplines and departments.
- Communicating effectively with the Nursing Management Team.
- Attends leadership meetings.
- ASSURES COMMUNICATION OF SHIFT EVENTS BY:
- Preparing a clinical and management report at the end of each shift.
- Completing a Supervisor’s Shift Report for the Administrator/Director of Nursing.
- Responsible for completion of RL’s for their shift, and ensuring follow-up is complete and accurate.
- DEMONSTRATES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT BY:
- Remaining current in nursing and management knowledge and skills.
- Maintaining active membership in professional organizations.

- QUALIFICATIONS

- Education
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- Work Experience

2-4 years of nursing experience required
- Experience within a Long-Term Care faciality preferred
- Prior supervisory experience preferred

2-4 years of nursing experience required
- Licenses / Certifications
- Registered Nurse license required
- Basic Life Support / CPR, as a healthcare provider, per the American Heart Association required
- Education
