Position Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of Plant Operations to supervise the plant operations staff and the development of various projects as needed. This position will delegate work orders to other plant operations staff as appropriate based on needs and skill level. The Supervisor of Plant Operations will also inspect, service, and maintain equipment and assist the Director of Plant Operations with coordination of outside service vendors.
The Supervisor of Plant Operations oversees, inspects, and repairs the physical structure and equipment in order to maintain a safe and efficient community in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and our established policies and procedures.
Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Report all accidents and incidents to the Director of Plant Operations during the shift in which they occur.
- Coordinate daily maintenance services with Directo of Plant Ops to ensure that there is no interruption in resident care.
- Coordinate and ensure smooth transition between plant operations, marketing, nursing and residents’ move in and move out turnaround times.
- Supervise daily and ongoing tasks of the plant operations department.
Maintenance Services
- Coordinate and designate service of HVAC units/systems, including operating weekly tests for emergency generator as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with the established policies and procedures.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance and repair on the community and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, painting, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
- Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established maintenance policies and procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed.
- Oversee and assist with removal of snow and ice from sidewalks, stairs, and entrances to facility.
- Perform/document unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed.
- Replace light bulbs as necessary.
- Communicate clearly using the plant operations radio.
Staff Support
- Lead and/or attend departmental, staff and committee meetings.
- Attend and participate in the in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs, etc., as scheduled or directed.
- Report any performance, attendance, policy violation or concerns to Director of Plant Operations.
Safety and Sanitation
- Conduct safety inspections.
- Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.
- Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., immediately.
- Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance services, including the use of safety equipment and/or personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
- Keep your work area (s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e. grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times. Refer to material safety date sheets (MSDS’s) when necessary.
- Ensure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing maintenance procedures.
Equipment and Supply Functions
- Ensure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
- Inspect and schedule the repair of equipment malfunctions or breakdowns (bus, vans, grounds, equipment, etc.) in a timely manner, coordinating dates and times with the affected department if necessary.
- Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.
Position Requirements
Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Technical/Trade Schooling preferred
Licenses/Certifications: N/A
Experience: 3+ years of plant operations/maintenance experience
Skills & Abilities:
- The ability to manage many different ongoing projects simultaneously
- The ability to prioritize projects as needed
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Hours:
- Full-Time: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
- Weekend Rotation approx. every 5 weeks
- Availability to work all shifts as needed
