In this position you will serve as first level supervisory and managerial authorities over non-supervisory network engineer/technician employees assigned to 96 CS/SCOI Responsibilities For additional information on direct hire opportunities with the Air Force please click here. Network Architecture: responsible for performing professional scientific and management work in all areas of squadron operations in support of 96th Test Wing and Team Eglin units as well as delivering first-class "COMM" to advance Team Eglin's warfighting capabilities. Maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot issues of Cisco Systems and other network equipment. Utilize the concepts of Internet Protocol networks, subnetting, and routing protocols. Design/implement complex data network for both NIPR/SIPR enclaves. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions located here SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-03 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 in the Federal Service. Specialized experiences is professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, investigate, resolve complex issues or problems, and modify standard practices and techniques to solve complex interrelated problems. Skill, judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and ability to foresee the impact of changing technology. Desired Skills: 5+ years of experience in network design, implementation and ongoing management of enterprise network 5+ years of develop automated methods to mitigate and remediate network events, reducing operational complexity 5+ year of programming or scripting expertise to automate processes and build tools 10+ years of hands-on experience with layer 2 protocols and enhancements Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), Layer 2 Equal-cost Multi-Path (L2 ECMP) and 802.1x, In-depth knowledge of Layer 3 protocols, Internet Protocol (IPv4/v6), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP) and routing protocols such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) with at least 10+ year of experience Education Additional Information Please note: Positions in this field/series may or may not be available, depending on current manning.
