Job Description:
Coordinate and supervise the daily operations of the Admission and Registration areas. Patient Access Associates are located in decentralized sites on and off campus. The key access functions comprise of registrations, admissions, pre-registration, insurance verification, pre-authorization, collection of patient payments and financial assessment for the EPCHD programs. Activities include direct supervision of associates with regard to work schedules, training, evaluation, and discipline to insure associate members take appropriate action for services rendered by the hospital. The goals of the department are to provide excellent customer service, improve patient access to care and to generate optimal financial results. Responsible for the department quality improvement program.
Required Skills:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
- Experience in training/education in registration related systems.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, delegate and supervise effectively.
- Interpersonal abilities necessary to effectively deal with all levels of hospital personnel as well as legal representatives, third party payers, patients, etc. and work together as a team.
- Ability to analyze and supervise using productivity and performance tools.
- Maintain knowledge of complex regulatory The Joint Commission, Medicare, and third party payer requirements and ensuring all staff understand and adhere to standards.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in unusual or stressful situations.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Adapt and respond effectively to constant changing service environment.
- Knowledgeable of healthcare financial procedures and an understanding of cash collection and training tools and techniques.
- Effective problem solving and leading team processes.
- Proficiency in computer software programs and use of basic office equipment required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Required Experience:
Work Experience:
Three years experience in insurance, managed care, private physician's office practice or hospital registration setting required.
Two years supervisory experience required.
License/Registration/Certification:
None.
Education and Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree preferred.
