In addition to soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries we offer minimally invasive procedures, regenerative therapies, negative pressure wound therapy and much more! Our surgery team is a fast-paced environment which is perfect for technician looking for training in multiple disciplines and for those who want to expand their knowledge in veterinary anesthesia and surgery.
As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:
- Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
- Review medical records, develop anesthetic protocol and develop post operative treatment plan with our surgeon and discharge patients.
- Prepare patients for surgery including clipping, prepping and positioning for surgery.
- Intubating and monitoring of patients under general anesthesia.
- Perform diagnostic imaging including digital radiographs, CT scans and digital cytology.
- Basic knowledge of surgical packs, sterilization protocols and instrumentation.
Expectations / Requirement:
- Prior veterinary experience is required. Previous surgery experience preferred.
- Proficient in drug calculation and strong anesthetic skills.
- Experience in surgical preparation of patients, maintaining sterile technique and surgical instrumentation.
- Display competency in general knowledge and nursing skills required to care for patients.
- As necessary, help with cleaning the operating rooms, instruments and the setting up and breakdown of the operating rooms.
- Must be able to bend, kneel and stand for long periods of time. Applicant should be able to frequently lift patients and inventory up to 40 pounds.
