Responsibilities:Job Summary:As a Surgery Tech/MA, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive patient care and support within a clinical, surgical setting. Your responsibilities will encompass various tasks, including escorting patients, collecting vital information, preparing procedure rooms, assisting during surgical procedures, and ensuring adherence to company policies and HIPAA regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Escort patients to the exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking.Collect patient information/history; takevitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
- Prepare paperwork for the patient’s current visit and ensure complete and accurate documentation within the patient’s electronic medical record.
- Complete pre-operative intake via a one-on-one interview with the patient, explain surgical procedures, and answer any questions within your scope.
- Prepare procedure rooms and surgical trays with all supplies needed for procedures.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures in adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Drape and disinfect the surgical site, administer an injection of local anesthesia, and use a handheld cautery device to achieve hemostasis.
- Assistthe physician during all procedures (passing instruments, blotting, cutting sutures, etc).
- Bandage surgical sites, prepare proper discharge paperwork, review wound care instructions with patients, and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization in an autoclave.
- Collect and accurately process specimens.
- Prepare pathology and lab specimens. Route to correct lab as required by patient’s insurance. Maintain accurate pathology log.
- Remove sutures.
- Notify patients of pathology and lab results.
- Respond to patient questions in the office and on the phone as instructed.
- Schedule or re-schedule appointments with providers, specialists as necessary. Send appropriate records as necessary.
- Maintain medication samples, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records.
- Maintain infection control. Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, and keep supply cabinets well stocked.
- Document all medical instructions given to patients.
- Travel required to the following offices:
- Annapolis, MD
- Glen Burnie, MD
- Prince Frederick, MD
- Berlin, MD (once every 6-8 weeks at max)
- Westminster, MD
Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.
Pay range, depending upon experience: $16-25/hr. Mileage reimbursement included.
Qualifications:- At least 6 months of experience as a medical assistant, or another closely related clinical position is required.
- Have a passion for taking care of people
- Ability to be a team player in a fast-paced environment
- Must have reliable transportation and a willingness to travel to various surgical centers in Maryland
- Will train motivated and hard-working candidates. No experience is necessary, although it will be viewed favorably.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds, stand for prolonged periods (i.e. an hour at a time) and use a step stool
