Responsibilities:
· Prepare and organize the operating room (OR) for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and sterile.
· Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
· Set up and operate surgical equipment, such as lights, suction machines, and electrocautery devices, under the direction of licensed healthcare professionals.
· Prepare and position patients for surgery, including prepping the surgical site, draping, and securing patient safety devices, in accordance with established protocols.
· Anticipate and respond to the needs of surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures, providing timely assistance and ensuring smooth workflow in the OR.
· Assist with patient transportation, transfer, and positioning within the OR, maintaining patient comfort and safety throughout the surgical experience.
· Handle and dispose of surgical specimens and biohazardous materials appropriately, following infection control guidelines and regulatory requirements.
· Perform surgical instrument sterilization, disinfection, and maintenance procedures, ensuring compliance with standards of practice and quality assurance measures.
· Willingness to be on call to work variable shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet surgical scheduling demands.
· Commitment to upholding professional ethics, standards of practice, and regulatory compliance in surgical technology practice.
