Surgical Technologist - Labor & Delivery - Fairview Health Services

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Delivery Room at our M Health Fairview St. John's Hospital location in Maplewood, MN.

We’re offering an up to $7,500 sign-on bonus along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000! 

As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the delivery room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the delivery room. 

Schedule:This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift. This position will also work a rotation for every third weekend.

• Supplyingappropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. 
• Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. 
• Ensuringaccurate identification and handling of specimens. 
• Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments. 
• Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment. 
• Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.

Required Qualifications:

• Complete one of the following by hire date: 
  • Military Surgical Assistant; OR 
  • LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR 
  • Surgical Technologist training 
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date) 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program 
• AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire 
• 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience

• Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served. 
• Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
