Overview
Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Delivery Room at our M Health Fairview St. John's Hospital location in Maplewood, MN.
We’re offering an up to $6,000 sign-on bonus along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000!
As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the delivery room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the delivery room.
Schedule : This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the day shift. This position will also work a rotation for every third weekend.

Responsibilities Job Description
As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for:
+ Supplyingappropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
+ Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
+ Ensuringaccurate identification and handling of specimens.
+ Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
+ Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
+ Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
+ Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
+ Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.
+ Followingappropriate action in emergency situations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Complete one of the following by hire date:
+ Military Surgical Assistant; OR
+ LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR
+ Surgical Technologist training
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
+ AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
+ 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
Other Required Skills:
+ Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
+ Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
Desired Skills:
+ Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
+ Ability to work well under a team environment.
+ Excellent communication skills.
+ The ability to prioritize and multi-task in a complex work environment.
