NV5 is accepting resumes for a Survey CADD Technician who is motivated, energetic and goal orientated.
Responsibilities:Candidates submitting resumes should enjoy working on an extremely wide range of projects and assignments with a team of highly motivated survey professionals. Candidates will have the opportunity to advance, while working on a wide variety of private and public sector projects in the fields of utilities, energy, education facilities, airports and land development. The candidate will work under the direction of a Licensed Land Surveyor. The candidate should have the knowledge and the ability to assist with the preparation of topographic and boundary survey drawings, utility drawings, Record or Survey Maps, ALTA Surveys, Parcel and Subdivision Maps, exhibits to accompany legal descriptions, forensic surveys and right-of-way mapping.
More specifically, candidates will aid the Professional Land Surveyor in researching, compiling and analyzing: Records of Survey, Plats, Legal Documents, Right-of-Way Maps, Government Land Office Data, and Utility Drawings and Sketches. Reviews and writes legal descriptions and uses CAD to lay out property, easement, rights-of-way and permits from legal descriptions. Researches and analyzes historical documents and maps. Obtain and interpret control point records and data sheets. Ability to use NGS Tool Kit, such as OPUS, to post process survey data.
Provides support to field surveyors and is responsible for processing field data. Creates search coordinates for field crews. Works with data such as: field notes, photogrammetric data and photographs, state plane grid coordinates and tables and raw survey point data. Coverts geographic coordinates to grid coordinates, computations of traverse closures, level runs, balancing of traverse and other office computations relative to survey operations. Performs computations and layouts for proposed construction projects. Possesses a general knowledge of utility line design and survey principals and procedures.
Excellent communication skills and a willingness to master office methods in support of survey projects. The preferred candidate will have a NSPS level III Survey Technician Certification or 2 -5 years of survey mapping experience. An associate’s degree in CAD / GIS or survey related field is helpful. Possession of a California LSIT Certificate is encouraged. Candidates should be able to eventually develop a basic understanding of project budget requirements, time and client management skills, focusing on client relations.
Working in a team environment, candidate should have the following minimum qualifications:
• Intermediate CAD (Civil 3D – 2013 & 2016) skills;
• Field to finish capabilities with good understanding of terrain
models and 3D models from classic survey data;
• Familiarity with High Definition Scanning (HDS)
• Knowledge of field and office surveying methods, practices
and mathematical procedures for surveying;
• Ability to interpret legal descriptions, survey maps and
engineering plans;
• Ability to perform mathematical computations
Certifications/Licenses:
The preferred candidate will have a NSPS level III Survey Technician Certification or 2 -5 years of survey mapping experience. An associate’s degree in CAD / GIS or survey related field is helpful. Possession of a California LSIT Certificate is encouraged
The pay range for this California position is $25.00- $40.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
