About the Job
MIT Lincoln Laboratory is seeking a motivated individual to join our dynamic Information Technology (IT) team as a System Administrator to support our technical analysis environment. You will be part of a small team that has a critical role in supporting computing and networking infrastructure, and will work under the supervision of a senior systems administrator to build and maintain environments in classified and unclassified environments, and to provide IT support to the analysts as needed. We're particularly interested in candidates with a background in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. This is a full-time position with 40 hours per week on-site. Candidates with prior experience with DoD systems are encouraged to apply.
Candidates should be highly competent in the execution of computer system solutions – including the provisioning, configuration, and management of Windows, Linux, and network solutions across a variety of hardware platforms. Experience and competency with DoD IT security requirements and procedures such as RMF, DFARS, SCAP, STIG is required. Candidates should also be team oriented, have strong communication skills, have the desire to work in a research and development environment, and be comfortable dealing with classified information in a closed area.
As a member of the Airborne Radar Systems and Techniques group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, you will be a part of a team with diverse technical backgrounds that analyze, develop, and test high-performance sensor systems. We prototype radar and imaging sensors for wide-area surveillance, and work to mature algorithms to detect small objects in challenging environments. Staff have the opportunity to work on hardware, software, and novel algorithm development. Teams work together to understand foundational physical principles, design and build one-of-a-kind sensor systems, architect and execute flight test data collections, develop and integrate novel processing techniques, explore advanced countermeasures that degrade the performance of sensor systems, and partner across the Department of Defense to transition our work onto platforms that operate around the globe preforming relevant missions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide system administration by installing, configuring, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading computers and network equipment
- Setup and maintain the integrity and security of systems and networks; install, maintain and administer new software and IT tools to support research projects
- Support Windows and Linux based platforms, applications, and users
- Configure network devices such as routers and switches
- Implement configuration management tools
- Review and test new hardware and software to make recommendations for purchases
- Design and implement shell scripts and other tools to automate processes
- Develop improvements for the computing and network infrastructure such as data storage, backup and recovery, network bandwidth and throughput, and application installation and management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred) or equivalent experience
- Minimum of four years of experience supporting Windows and Linux systems including configuration management, software installation/configuration, and network configuration
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in one or more of the followin Security+, Comp Tia A+, Network+
- Experience working in a classified computing environment
- Experience installing and configuring routers and switches
- Experience installing, configuring, and operating network services such as DNS, DHCP, NIS, NFS, SSH, SAMBA, and AD
- Experience with security tools such as Trellix ePO, Ivanti, Nessus
- Experience with patching utilizing WSUS and wsusoffline
- Excellent customer service, communication, and troubleshooting skills
Desired Technical Skills
- Experience with research high performance and real-time computing environments
- Experience with DoD IT security requirements and procedures: RMF, SCAP, and STIG
- Competent with administration and troubleshooting of one or more of the followin
- Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Server 2016/2019, Office Suites, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, MDT, DOS/PowerShell scripting, patching
- Networking, Subnetting, Routing
- Experience in installing, configuring, running, and troubleshooting security tools such as Trellix ePO, Ivanti, Tenable Nessus, Microsoft WSUS
- Experience in resolving issues reported on by security tools

Security Type Required
Applicant must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and the willingness to obtain a Top Secret clearance in the future. Preference will be given to candidates with existing clearance status.
