The Clinical Placement Manager is responsible for the administration of student clinical placements for assigned programs that may include undergraduate/prelicensure or graduate clinical programs. Is responsible for the management of clinical program requests for placement of students with clinical sites/preceptors. Specific responsibilities include: identification of the number of students to be placed within a program and the type of clinical placements needed; prioritize clinical placement of students with existing clinical sites and preceptors; identify new clinical sites and preceptors when needed; initiate clinical affiliation agreements for new clinical sites; develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key contacts at each clinical site; and approve and submit all required documentation for clinical placement prior to student clinical practicum experiences. The Clinical Placement Manager is also responsible for communication of information regarding faculty/student clinical placements to clinical sites, faculty, and students, and for making arrangements for faculty/student orientations, access to electronic medical records, and other arrangements as needed.
REPONSIBILITIES:
1. Identifies and secures clinical site placement for assigned students with approved clinical sites and preceptors.
2. Manages database of clinical agencies, preceptors, and faculty/student orientation requirements.
3.Tracks assigned students' progress in completing required training and documentation for clinical placement.
4.Approves or denies submitted student documentation based on established guidelines.
5.Collaborates with the Academic Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, Specialty Track Coordinators, and Clinical Course Managers to determine clinical placement needs.
6.Initiate and maintain effective communication with clinical agencies, preceptors, and clinical course managers regarding clinical placements.
7.Initiate the clinical contract process for new clinical sites.
8.Coordinate faculty/student access to electronic medical records and/or other patient care systems at clinical sites.
9.Track clinical agency assignments of individual programs
10.Participate in formal and informal agency updates on a regular basis
11.Identify and communicate potential preceptors to programs for assessment of credentials
12.Participate with Program/Pathway Directors and Assistant Deans in evaluation of clinical sites and preceptors.
13.Generate reports as directed.
14.Demonstrates ethical conduct in all aspects of role in alignment with the standards of behavior outlined in the UAB Enterprise Code of Conduct.
15.Performs other related duties as directed to support the missions of the School of Nursing.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Clinical Administration, Higher Education, Business Administration, Public Administration or another related field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in higher education, nursing, administration or management. Master's degree is preferred.
Experience in managing databases desired. This individual should be detail oriented, have effective problem-solving skills, demonstrate effectiveness in communication, customer service, prioritizing workload, and relationship building.
