Experience
Minimum – One year of experience working with children.
Education
Minimum - High School Diploma or equivalent education.
Preferred – CDA Credential, vocational school training in childcare, or college course work in the field of education.
Responsibility Summary
Responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate early childhood care and education program for their assigned classroom. Maintains classroom program in compliance with NYS regulations, Accreditation Standards, and Center policy. Participates in Center program improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions
- Provides nurturing, individualized care according to the developmental needs of each child in collaboration with the parent and as defined by NYS Regulations, NAEYC Standards and Center policy.
- Demonstrates appropriate teacher to child interactions and child guidance techniques according to Center standards.
- Ensures a safe and healthy environment for all children by appropriately supervising the children’s’ activities, maintaining sanitation, and safety protocols.
- Assesses and serves each child's health & nutrition needs in collaboration with the parent and Center Nurse.
- Actively participates in the planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate early childhood education program according to NAEYC Standards.
- Completes classroom documentation and correspondence in an accurate and expeditious fashion, as part of the Center's commitment to quality communication.
- Assists in preparation for formal parent conferences.
