Universal City:
At our Universal City office interns will have access to the NBCUCommutes program, which provides fully subsidized transit passes to full-time lower lot employees, good for unlimited rides on all Metro bus and rail, such as the Metro Red Line.

Job Description
Summer 2025 Internship Program:

- Program Dates: June 2 – August 8, 2025
- Time Commitment: 40 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.
- Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Universal City, CA.

The Entertainment Group develops and schedules the network’s primetime, late-night, and daytime entertainment programming, including USA, SYFY, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, and Universal Kids. NBC’s quality programs and balanced line-up have earned the network critical acclaim, numerous awards and ratings success, including most recently winning the traditional September-to-May season in primetime’s key demo, marking the network’s third win in four years. NBC has earned more Emmy Awards than any network in television history.
Universal Studio Group (USG) encompasses NBCUniversal’s television production studios: Universal Television (UTV), Universal Content Productions (UCP), NBCUniversal International Studio, and Universal Television Alternative Studio (UTAS). USG produces over 100 scripted and unscripted series across multiple countries around the globe for buyers in broadcast, cable, and streaming. Network partners include NBC, Peacock, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Apple, HBO, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, CTV, ABC, FOX, and ABC among many others.
Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
- Entertainment Communications: Support communications efforts by maintaining and updating press lists, preparing for press junkets, monitoring press breaks and compiling clip packets, researching media outlets & contacts, and compiling coverage reports, draft tune-ins, assist with press releases and various writing assignments/research projects. Opportunities may be in scripted and/or unscripted communications
- E! News Social Commerce: Create lifestyle and shoppable social videos, posts and stories for E! Insider, E! News and Kards Katch Up TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Threads and YouTube Shorts, source and repost influencer and celebrity posts, Reels and TikToks related to fashion, beauty, wellness, fitness, travel, home, and relevant pop culture topics, write both assigned and self-pitched commerce articles to correspond with influencer collabs, fashion, beauty, wellness, fitness, travel, home and relevant pop culture topics
- Entertainment Communications- Strategic & Scripted: Compiling coverage reports, raves, and round ups, helping with daily newsletters, creating itineraries, pulling clips, researching media outlets and reporters as well as other topics, brainstorming and presenting ideas, working in-person events including junkets, red carpets and press roundtables, attending team meetings
- Live Events & Specials: Research and share knowledge of current events and trends in the pop culture zeitgeist as they relate to organizational objectives for the team, assist Live Events team with show lead-up materials, day of event needs, and post-show recaps, including collecting content links, competitive outlet research, screen recordings, etc, assist with administrative tasks and projects as needed. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about live events and the hard-work it takes to put a show together behind the scenes
- NBC Marketing & Brand Strategy: The Marketing and Brand Strategy team communicates with all departments to build strategies and marketing campaigns for NBC Entertainment primetime and late-night programming, in addition to leading promotional activations. The marketing intern will support the brand team throughout these processes, partake in weekly trainings, attend meetings and assist in daily tasks to understand brand’s role throughout a show’s lifecycle
- Social Marketing- Bravo & E!: Intern will Identify moments from our series in advance of airing to be clipped for social use, monitor social sentiment on behalf of the networks, write and edit compelling social media copy and schedule content to be dispersed through E! and Bravo social media
- USG Marketing & Awards: Ideating and producing social media content for studio and brand handles, supporting the awards team through research, asset management, and administrative duties, updating and tracking department documents for overall campaign timelines, reading scripts and summarizing for brand guidelines, brainstorming and presenting ideas (e.g., campaign opportunities, social media initiatives, marketing creative, etc., and more
- USG Publicity & Corporate Communications: Intern will support the team across series publicity, talent relations and corporate communications initiatives. Duties include, but are not limited to brainstorming and presenting ideas for talent relations/gifting, editorial and press opportunities, speaking engagements, etc., assisting publicists during in-person press opportunities (shoots, junkets, interviews, etc.), compiling comprehensive coverage reports for senior executives and flag breaking news, researching media outlets/contacts and maintaining the team’s master contact data base, auditing critical team documents and reviewing releases/external announcements, and more
Entertainment Decision Science opportunities include:
- Broadcast & Cable Entertainment Content Analytics: The internship will provide an overview of the broadcast and cable entertainment landscape/programming, focusing on NBC, USA, Bravo, SYFY, E!, Oxygen True Crime, and Universal Kids. The internship will offer in-depth training on TV ratings and audience research, including involvement in various cross-platform projects, and ownership over various weekly and daily reporting. Interns will create custom reports to track internal performance, the competitive landscape, and industry trends; work with linear and Peacock / streaming data, using multiple audience measurement tools and dashboards including Nielsen and NBCU proprietary research
- Digital, Social & Streaming Content Analytics: The intern will have the opportunity to bring together, analyse, and interpret digital data to generate reports and dashboards for the E! News and NBCU Syndication business, learn and use multiple analytics tools to help E! News and NBCU Syndication titles grow their digital and social platforms; work closely with the editorial and social teams across both the E! News business and individual NBCU Syndicated titles to generate insights and guide the digital strategy while maintaining a pulse on the quickly developing news cycle within the entertainment pop news and talk show landscape, and more
Basic Requirements:
- Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (June 2025 through August 2025). May 2025 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2025 Internship Program.
- Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
- Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.
Desired Characteristics:
- Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Previous public relations experience is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with Muck Rack, Cision, and Google Alerts a plus, but not required.
- Knowledge of TV Ratings, Nielsen, or data visualization tools like Tableau preferred.
- Affinity for numbers & ability to digest large data sets - especially with ratings and viewership data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to write clean copy quickly and efficiently.
- Experience creating content for various social media platforms.
- Ability to multitask, highly organized, and strong attention to detail.
The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $17.50.
The hourly rate for Decision Sciences undergraduate student interns is $30.00.
The hourly rate for Decision Sciences graduate student interns is $35.00.
