Tax Manager - J. Morrissey

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our clients growing and well-established public accounting firm in Fairfield County. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, must be tech savvy, have the ability to work independently and with a team, along with a strong desire to be willing to take on new challenges and responsibilities. This position will require managing the Tax department and team. They are committed to practicing work/life balance out of tax season and offer extremely competitive salary and benefit packages.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with clients and other stakeholders
• Participates in the development of and support the client's strategic plans
• Compile and analyze financial reporting packages
• Develop and advise on tax controls by the company's processes
• Explain and communicate tax code to senior management
• Prepare relevant tax consulting position papers
• Prepare tax provisions for both public and private companies, including supporting work books and note disclosures
• Research tax and GAAP issues and topics and draft technical position papers
• Regional and local travel to client locations and training courses

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting
• Must be CPA certified
• Experience with CCH ProFx Tax is a plus
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• 3-5+ years of experience at a mid to large-size public accounting firm
• The ability to work fully on-site 
• A demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize and manage multiple engagements under tight deadlines
• Experienced auditing tax provisions and reviewing current returns and audit practices
• Salary expectations: $135k+
