Salary: Starting at $17.50 per hour, based on experience and academic background.
General Summary of Position:
This position involves creating a caring, nurturing, safe, loving, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Teachers are responsible for creating lesson plans, overseeing daily routines, and engaging parents and guardians. Infant and toddler teachers are also responsible for feeding, diapering, napping, and playtime.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
- Provide a high-quality education to A4YA students.
- Ensure the environment is healthy and safe and promote positive well-being for A4yA students and their families. Maintain a clean and organized learning environment.
- Prepare weekly lesson plans that align with the Creative Curriculum. Follow daily classroom schedules.
- Adhere to all company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Adhere to all Indiana and local childcare laws, policies, and procedures, including being a mandated reporter.
- Conduct daily health and safety screenings for each child and report any concerns.
- Data enter child and family information using ProCare data management system.
- Complete daily paperwork such as attendance and meal count records.
- Engage with children and families and address parental concerns and questions.
- Conduct Parent/Teacher conferences three times during the school year
- Maintain required certifications, attend professional development, and attend special events on behalf of A4YA, as requested.
- Other duties as assigned by A4YA Management or designee.
Qualifications:
- At a minimum, a high school diploma or GED. A degree in early childhood, family studies, or a related field is preferred. Must be 21 years old to work with children under 2 years old.
- Must be passionate about working with children.
- Pass pre-employment screening that includes obtaining a physical exam, TB test, background check, and drug testing.
- Have a pleasant, professional demeanor, a positive attitude, and be a team player.
- Have excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Have excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must work independently of direct supervision
- Must be able to lift at least fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be culturally sensitive and able to work with individuals from various backgrounds, including children with special needs.
