About the Job
- You are the linking pin between Prysmian North American optical fiber and telecom cable plants, support technical collaboration, co-development, and yield optimization in both fiber and cable plants.
- You develop and maintain strong relationships with cloud, colocation, and telecom operators to influence customer strategic decisions as well as network deployments.
- You work closely with sales and R&D to implement and execute strategies to develop new business opportunities for advanced optical fiber systems.
- You coordinate with Prysmian’s international sales teams to open business development interactions with strategic customers.
- You understand customer business and product requirements, coordinate with sales and R&D portfolio.
- You recognize market and technological trends, use market research, and attend tradeshows to anticipate future directions for the portfolio and identify innovation opportunities.
- You drive the successful launch of new products, provides guidance to optimize the current product portfolio and forecasts.
- You serve as a primary technical respondent to customer claims.
- You provide customer training and customer support, both remotely and on-site.
- You are responsible for product specifications and application notes.
- You create and maintain product data sheets, you create marketing and sales support materials.
- Identify competitor product development and market strategy.
- You lead sales for all mainstream optical fiber products in the USA.
- You negotiate contracts.
- You build & maintain relations at all levels, you represent Prysmian at external customers.
- You build Sales forecasts and Actual reports to serve as BU reference, you monitor Sales Forecast and Actual.
- You can operate under minimal supervision, you are self-motivated, a fast learner and are highly competent in identifying and executing strategies to develop new products and business opportunities for Prysmian’s optical fiber solutions.
- You identify and generate telecom and data center business opportunities in collaboration through your broad technical level of expertise, business understanding, and cross-functional interaction with cable sales, R&D, operations, and supply chain.
- You are a professional who can demonstrate strong knowledge of optical networks, telecommunications, and data centers.
- Your advanced business development, technical, and marketing skills are a must as you interact with internal and external business partners and customers.
- You will also lead the sales of mainstream products (SMF, MMF) for external customers in North America. Develop accounts. Generate additional sales for new customers. Maintain and build excellent relations with customers at all levels including CEOs, Vice Presidents, Business and Technical Directors, Purchase Managers, and Product (line) managers.
- You will be based in Claremont, North Carolina, and travel approximately 30-40%, a re-location package is provided.
- Bachelor's in engineering, preferred (opto-) electronics.
- Master's or PhD, in an (opto-)electronics or communication engineering discipline.
- Qualified to graduate or PhD level, preferably in an optical or laser engineering discipline.
- Works out of a normal office environment with standard office equipment available.
- Extended periods of sitting or standing at a desk or workstation.
- Repetitive tasks such as typing, filing, and data entry, may require dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Will be required to sit, bend, kneel, squat, use a keyboard, read, write, and speak fluently.
- Employees will be required to work productively and cooperatively in a high-volume, fast-paced, highly pressured environment and be able to respond efficiently and courteously to unanticipated problems and crises.
- This role is not typically exposed to adverse environmental conditions, except excessive eye strain.
- When travel is necessary, will be exposed to typical travel environments and surroundings.
