Chemours is seeking a Technical Service and Application Development Scientist to join our growing Advanced Performance Materials team! This position will report directly to the Global Technical Service Manager at our Newark, DE location.

As a Technical Service and Application Development Scientist you will contribute to the growth of our melt-processable Fluoropolymers business. Chemours fluoropolymers are widely used in high-end applications and can be found in such wide ranging industries as electronics and communications, electrical vehicles, energy storage, and medical devices, to name a few.

Chemours is seeking a Technical Service and Application Development Scientist to join our growing Advanced Performance Materials team! This position will report directly to the Global Technical Service Manager at our Newark, DE location.

As a Technical Service and Application Development Scientist you will contribute to the growth of our melt-processable Fluoropolymers business. Chemours fluoropolymers are widely used in high-end applications and can be found in such wide ranging industries as electronics and communications, electrical vehicles, energy storage, and medical devices, to name a few.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide technical support to customers, to include travel to key customers. Activities include troubleshooting customer processes, addressing customer technical questions and requests, introducing new/modified products, prototyping products/processes for customers, and design/delivery of training courses both internal and eternal to Chemours
- Collaborate within a global business team and a global technical community to exchange experiences, share results, and develop and test new product prototypes or processes
- Work with vendors to procure necessary materials for research activities, and develop, install, and operate new laboratory equipment in support of the same
- Assist in product/customer complaint investigations to perform root cause failure analysis, and to help define corrective actions
- Document and communicate results in a timely manner in various electronic formats, including electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) and Microsoft Teams sites
- Adhere to site safety standards and proactively suggest improvements to work processes
The following is required for this role:
- Bachelor's degree in the following engineering/science disciplines; polymer, chemical, mechanical, and materials engineering/science
- Interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with a strong 'Customer Focus' attitude
- Strong fluency in English (professional writing and speaking)
- Ability to travel to customer sites (up to 30%)
- Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve problems
- Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects in a safe manner
- Ability to work in a team environment with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation
- The ability to work well with all levels in the organization
- At least two years of experience working with melt flowable materials, preferrably in creating coated communication wires or tubing.
The following is preferred for this role:
- Knowledge and experience of extrusion processes utilizing fluoropolymers
- Working knowledge of fluoropolymer fundamentals is a plus

$105,280.00 - $164,500.00
