Job Summary
The technician is a skilled manufacturing position that is responsible for supporting the building process of aluminum boats for a variety of customers. This is position is responsible for ensuring that all technical parts are correctly installed and comply with the regulatory specs to successfully support the build of the boat.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and trouble shoot advanced 12 volt/110 electrical systems. The ability to apply that knowledge to existing electrical circuitry as well as install new, complete systems. The ability to read and/or create accurate wiring schematics and to diagnose and repair problems in existing systems
- Install, maintain and trouble shoot mechanical drive systems.
- Install, maintain and trouble shoot marine specific components.
- Assemble and install various mechanical systems such as engines to drivelines, hydraulic systems and lighting.
- Follow an installation diagram including various measurements, torques and other values/calculations, in a way that produces the quality of a factory fit and finish.
- Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and operations.
- Maintains all safety standards
- Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
- Operates a wide variety of handheld and power-assisted tools and production fixtures
- Ensures quality and accuracy of their work
- Reports issues to supervisor or to team lead
- Positions and secures parts, using hoist, crane, wire and banding machine, or hand tools.
- Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position
- Preparing, loading, unloading, and driving of high speed watercrafts in variable weather conditions.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Assisting or partnering with others in close corridors while keeping clear and effective communication.
- Ability to show strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge in standard build practices in comparable manufacturing environments
- Strong mechanical background and familiarity in a wide variety of tools used in the assembly process and apply them safely to complete installations.
- Follows directions and procedures under supervision
- Conducts basic problem-solving skills under supervision
- Effectively communicate to supervisor and manager
- Adheres to all procedures and safe work practices

- Aluminum welding skills are beneficial, but not required
Qualifications
- High School Degree, GED or equivalent required
- Applicants with prior technician experience in the maritime industry preferred
- Applicants with certificate or degree in Marine Technician, Automotive Technician, or Industrial Maintenance Technician or equivalent experience preferred
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Physical requirements
Position requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Must be able to work in tight spaces and awkward positions for long periods of time. Must be able to conduct inside and outside work in all temperatures. Use of manufacturing equipment. Work in areas at times that are not environmentally controlled. Able to move/lift/pull/push 50 lbs. Ability to get underway with high speed watercraft in variable weather conditions.
Employees must provide their own basic hand tools, such as screw drivers, etc.
