About the Job
Baseline job description:
1) Assemble complex electro-mechanical systems that will be used in operational environments (DoD environments)
a. Mechanical assembly and modifications
b. Cable and harness fabrication and installation (including routing, restraining)
c. Electronic racks / assemble COTS items into chassis
2) Ability to read technical design/drawing packages and implement into hardware leveraging industry best practices
3) Ability to create/revise/recommend changes to technical documentation and identify improvements to system design (for manufacturability)
4) Familiarity and experience (certification) with defense industry assembly standards such as IPC
5) Ability to work/communicate with Engineering staff
a. Understand design intent
b. Communicate issues and corrective recommendations
6) Experience in adhering to process and rigor in production environment
a. Developing low-rate production capability, so technician needs to have comfort working in an evolving environment while applying/recommending best practices as appropriate
b. Experience developing build-books, tracking serial numbers, etc.
c. Operating with PLM system to retrieve and archive data
7) Schedule flexibility to accommodate variations in program schedule and/or support multiple programs
a. Ability to pivot among programs that may have different needs, schedules, priorities
Nice to have but not required at this point:
1) Experience conducting and documenting functional tests, e.g. initial power-up, potentially Factory Acceptance Testing
a. Experience with trouble shooting and initial debug
2) Eligible for security clearance (e.g. US citizen)
a. Existing clearance at Secret or Top Secret level
Experience:
1) Minimum 5 years demonstrated applicable experience building hardware
a. Must have direct, relevant, recent, and demonstrated hands-on experience fabricating cables and harnesses to industry soldering / crimping standards (e.g IPC)
b. Must have direct, relevant, recent, and demonstrated hands-on experience fabricating hardware in compliance with drawing packages, Quality control, and controlled processes (e.g. torque wrenches)
