About the Job
Position requires:
- The ability to understand and follow instructions in English, mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and process sheets (MI's, output test data).
- Aptitude of soldering techniques and assembly of instruments.
- Ability to do mathematical calculations in conjunction with calibration equipment to set electronics to required specifications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Possible periodic physical effort requiring moving of test stands. Manual dexterity required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets established standards of productivity and efficiency while maintaining acceptable quality levels for all work performed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs mechanical and electrical assembly operations using hand tools.
- Performs polishing of units as required.
- Performs a variety of routine assembly and test operations using hand pumps and weights in conjunction with electronic test stands, soldering irons, desk-top electronic compensation equipment.
- Works on a variety of miscellaneous functions, as needed, for the efficient operation of area which may include but are not limited to:
- Helium leak test
- Blocked capillary test
- Stamp bases, straighten coils, size snouts
- Brazing
- Parts washing
- Rework/salvage machining
- Polishing
- Assembles, solders wires/flex prints and electrical components into sub-assemblies, printed circuit boards and final test.
- Performs basic continuity and electrical checks, calibrates, final tests and may be called upon to repair production units not meeting preset standards of performance or quality.
- Must be able to work independently and without constant direct supervision.
- Maintains record of work as required, reports discrepancies and problems to supervisor.
EDUCATION: High School or Vocational School diploma or equivalency
