The Intensive Education Academy (IEA) seeks a dedicated and dynamic Physical Education-Health Teacher to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. This temporary position involves providing instruction and support in physical education and health to students with special needs, contributing to their educational, social, and psychological development. The role reports directly to the Director of Education.

Certification: CT State Teacher Certification in Physical Education (044) and Health (043)
Schedule: 182 school days plus 5 professional development days; Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education and health program to enhance students' physical, social, and emotional growth
Assess and evaluate student performance, learning styles, strengths, and areas for improvement, and set appropriate goals and objectives
Teach individual and team sports, applying knowledge of sports techniques and students’ physical capabilities
Serve as a resource for students, parents/guardians, and staff regarding healthy living and positive choices
Model professional behavior and maintain appropriate boundaries and interactions with students
Create a supportive learning environment that fosters student responsibility, cooperation, and respect, in alignment with the school’s behavioral intervention plan
Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and other professionals to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Complete and document necessary paperwork, including assessment reports, quarterly and year-end reports, report cards, and IEP documentation, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
Support extracurricular programs and activities as needed
Engage in professional development, curriculum development meetings, and other opportunities to maintain and enhance professional competence
Motivate students to excel in academics, athletics, and personal conduct, and support them in recognizing and achieving their full potential
Collaborate with colleagues and school leaders to refine instructional strategies and improve school climate and leadership
