POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This posting covers a variety of part-time instructional employment opportunities for Roanoke-Chowan Community College’s workforce development program. Courses and workshops are taught in a broad array of subjects, lasting from one day to several weeks. Flexible scheduling is available, including day, evening, and weekend courses. Typical responsibilities include: preparing lesson plans for classroom instruction, developing program timeline and syllabi, goals, and objectives, evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives, and preparing and maintaining documentation and administrative reports. The instructor will also be responsible for maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field. We are actively seeking instructors in the following disciplines:
- Automotive Technology
- Health Science
- Business
- Commercial Truck Driving
- Computer Information Technology
- Construction/Plumbing
- Welding
EDUCATION AND WORK REQUIREMENTS:
Required qualifications vary by discipline taught but generally required a minimum of two years of full-time work experience and appropriate education/ training/certifications/credentials pertinent to the subject matter. Formal teaching certification is not required.
SKILLS:
Develop course materials, ability to teach concepts in field to adults in a community college setting that focus on occupational needs or professional employment.
