Our Connecticut division, located in Shelton, seeks a Tool & Die Maintenance Technician.
We are looking for a dedicated, meticulous, and mechanically capable Tool & Die Maintenance Technician to ensure tools are ready and able to meet production and quality requirements. The ideal candidate would be successful at maintaining tooling in state of good condition and repair and troubleshoot underperforming dies by being able to:
- Keep tools running at optimal efficiency through sustained maintenance, repair and modification necessary to achieve production, quality and customer requirements.
- Improve tool performance through analysis, troubleshooting and technical problem solving.
- Machine and grind tooling components and perform maintenance to Toolroom standards and maintenance books using manual Toolroom equipment.
- Proactively notify Toolroom Manager of tooling problems.
- Perform any other related jobs to maintain production tooling.
- Monitor and make recommendations for ordering spare components.
- Support other team members in tool improvements and technical problems.
- Participate in continual improvement innovation and initiative to improve safety, productivity, profitability and efficiency.
- Assist in testing, prototyping and improving of ideas to ensure purchased components meet specifications.
- Follow all policies and procedures as detailed in process documents, immediately bringing to the attention of Manager any discrepancies or opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Graduation from high school or receipt of equivalent degree (GED).
- Completion of minimum 4 years machine shop training (NTMA) or related work.
- Experience with using basic measuring tools (e.g. micrometer and caliper).
- Six months experience in operating basic machine shop equipment (e.g. lathe, mill, surface
- grinder).
- Thorough knowledge of all tool and die manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
