The Tool and Die Maker position has the ability to build jigs
fixtures
and dies. This role oversees the machining of all parts through the machining process leading up to assembly and try out of the tool. Also responsible to make sure that all machining is done timely and accurately. A successful candidate is a self-motivated multi-tasker that utilizes a strong work ethic to ensure all quality levels are met.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties in a safe manner.
- Ability to work in a team environment focusing on meeting Safety
Quality
Delivery and Cost standards.
- Knowledgeable in the operation and setup of lathes
Bridgeport type mills
grinders
drill presses to machine basic parts.
- Basic understanding of blank/draw dies.
- Understands clearance requirements.
- Be able to troubleshoot blank/draw dies to determine root cause of issues and how to correct them.
- Uses micrometers
dial indicators
and Vernier calipers to accurately measure parts for quality checks.
- Read and understand mechanical blueprints of basic parts:
- Understands machining tolerances and dimensioning.
- Understands machining surface finishes.
- Understands thread types and cutting requirements.
- Understands weld symbols.
- Understands section views.
- Understands fit tolerances (Slip
Size to Size
Interference
Etc.).
- Understands other symbols (Counterbore
Depth
Diameter
Runout
Etc.)
- Perform basic math related to machining parts (conversions
add
subtract
multiply
divide
etc.).
- Basic understanding of various tools used in machining.
- Capable of specifying tools needed.
- Be able to sharpen tools.
- 6S of area (Sort
Straighten
Shine
Safety
Sustain).
- Ability to safely lift/rig materials to load/unload machines using forklift and/or cranes.
- Other duties as assigned.

- 3-6 months of previous Tool & Die repair experience or equivalent knowledge
