The Tool and Die Assistant supports the Tool and Die Makers in the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of tools, dies, and molds used in the manufacturing process. This role involves working closely with the team to ensure that all tools and dies are functioning properly and meet quality standards, contributing to efficient production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the creation of new tools and dies by preparing materials, operating machinery, and following specifications under the guidance of experienced Tool and Die Makers.
- Help with the maintenance and repair of existing tools and dies, ensuring they are in optimal working condition. This includes cleaning, inspecting, and making necessary adjustments or replacements.
- Aid in the setup and calibration of tools and dies on various machines, ensuring accurate and consistent performance during production runs.
- Conduct inspections and measurements of tools and dies to ensure they meet required specifications and tolerances. Report any issues or deviations to the Tool and Die Maker or supervisor.
- Assist with managing inventory of tools, dies, and related materials. This includes tracking usage, organizing storage, and helping with ordering supplies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of tool and die maintenance, repairs, and usage. Complete required paperwork and reports to document work performed and tool status.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Follow all company policies and industry regulations related to tool and die operations.
- Work closely with other team members and departments to support production schedules and resolve any issues related to tools and dies.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to tool and die operations. Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or training in machining, tool and die making, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment is advantageous, but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
Skills:
- Basic understanding of machining processes and tools.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments and precision tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy tools and equipment, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that require manual dexterity and precision.
