ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES BREAKDOWN:

- 30% 1 Machine & build fixtures and devices that hold & cradle our product for finishmachining various operations. Set up/Operate CNCs & Machining Centers viaMastercam. Work on Production parts.
- 30% 2 Build new forming and sizing dies to produce our products (elbow-cap-reducer forming)
- 35% 3 Repair and maintain all tools. Assure flow of production and repair
- at worksite press
- 2% 4 Order perishable tools used in tool room
- 2% 5 Order alloy and or tool steels per specs
- 1% 6 Drive Forklift
LIST OF MACHINES IN TOOL ROOM:
Bridgeports Manual Lathes Radial Arm Drills Okuma
Jig Mill, Drill Presses Hardness tester Surface Grinder Mill
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Minimum years of experience needed 3 to 5 yrs.
- Fanuc lathe and mill controls a plus.
- Mazak lathe and mill controls a plus.
- Must be able to use all Tool Room machines, Lathe Bridgeport Mill Drill Presses Table Grinders Hardness Tester etc. CNC experience (set up/operate)
- Must know the capability of alloy tool steel and their heat treat limits. Be able to select the proper steel for specific applications.
- Must have 3-5 years experience turning & milling set-up, all around Machinist and Mastercam
- Read and work from blueprint
- Must be reliable
- Good communication skills
EDUCATION LEVEL: Technical school
Problem Solving/Decision Making
- Most blueprints give dimensions and specifications to select the correct approach. Steps to the final part are obtained with experience.
- Assignments for projects to build new or repair damaged broken tools (dies, fixtures, etc.) are per tool room workload list, prioritized by urgency.

Describe:
When repairing our rail-dies, (3) operation or sequences are standard:
- Disassembling die, removing die inserts that are to be repaired or replaced.
- Repair Ins. by weld repair or replace with new insert
- Reassemble all ins. blocks in rev. order, hone lap etc. total unit (fine tune)
NOTE: Sequence 1 and 3 are mostly performed kneeling on a skid or on the floor
REQUIRED MATERIALS:
- Steel toe safety footwear mandatory
- Standard safety glasses w/side shields company provides. Prescription safety glasses must be approved by OSHA standard and have side shields
- Hearing protection mandatory and company provides
