About the Job
As a Tractor Trailer Mechanic at St. Louis Composting, collaborates with other repair team members to ensure a vehicle is safely and efficiently operating.
What You'll Do:
- Maintain and Repair: Perform DOT inspections and proactive maintenance to keep tractor trailers running smoothly, ensuring continuous production.
- Diagnose and Fix Issues: Swiftly respond to machine breakdowns, diagnose problems, and execute repairs promptly.
- Inspect and Replace Parts: Inspect, repair, and replace defective or worn parts such as air brakes, suspension, and lighting systems.
- Hydraulic Maintenance: Replace, repair or fabricate hydraulic lines and fittings for live floor trailers
- Ensure Safety: Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing safety and professionalism.
- Adapt and Assist: Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
- Valid Driver's License: Must possess a valid US driver's license and have personal tools (specialty tools provided).
- Physical Capability: Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficient in air brakes and suspension systems;
- 2 years of stick welding, wire welding and fabrication;
- 1 year experience with tractor trailer maintenance;
- Experience with live floor trailers and hydraulics a plus.
