Job Title: Fitness Specialist/Personal Trainer
Department: Member Fitness Center
Reports to: Fitness Managers / Supervisors

SUMMARY
The Fitness Specialist/Personal Trainer designs and executes evidence-based fitness and wellness programs and services. This individual upholds the highest standards of professionalism and hospitality, is a team player, and is a fitness and wellness role model.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the following duties and responsibilities, other duties may be assigned:
Building a client base that contributes to departmental revenues. Conducting new client appointments while maintaining an existing client base.
Market yourself and your services in a professional manner that fulfills the Ocean Reef Club Center guidelines.
Maintaining the fitness areas and equipment, keeping them clean and in excellent working condition, and arranging for any necessary equipment maintenance.
Guiding your clients on individualized training programs. Educating clients on their needs and creating fitness goals.
Administer fitness evaluations and assessments for members.
Stay abreast of current trends in the fitness industry, taking advantage of fitness-based training and learning opportunities where possible.
Offer member consultations and discussions on ORC Member Fitness Center's lifestyle enhancement services.
Assist with ORC Member Fitness Center special events and programs.
Daily report all incidents, complaints, and suggestions to the department supervisors and managers.
Work cooperatively with the Fitness Manager and Director of Recreation in all aspects of ORC Fitness Center operations.
Be able to make appropriate decisions when the Manager is not available.
Assist the Manager in creating revenue-generating and member service opportunities.
Observe and take action to correct all situations at the Fitness Centers for safety.
Consistently display the ability to deal with a discriminating clientele and provide outstanding customer service.
Demonstrate the ORC Promise in all aspects of this position, i.e., Member service, presentation, preparation, hygiene, uniforms, etc.
Report all incidents, complaints, or suggestions daily to the Manager or Director.
Complete a comprehensive knowledge of all emergency procedures.
Conduct regular inspections of daily work areas, seeing that both Fitness Centers are clean and orderly.
OTHER:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards Ocean Reef Club may establish from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the hospitality industry's cyclical nature, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the club’s business levels.
Upon employment, all associates must fully comply with Ocean Reef Club rules and regulations for club facilities' safe and efficient operations. Associates who violate Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
In addition to performing the essential functions, this position requires a combination of the following supportive functions. These functions include assisting in covering front desk hours as needed and covering other trainers’ training sessions and aerobics classes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current Personal Training certification from an accredited fitness organization such as NASM, NSCA, ACSM, ACE, or ISSA.
Five years of personal training experience with a discerning clientele base is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years personal training experience with a discerning clientele base preferred.
Water Safety/ Aquatic Instructor Certification
CPR/ First Aid

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, associate may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the Club and report deadlines.
Proper grooming is required by all associates and is described in detail in the Associates Handbook. Associates should review this policy and make sure that at all times they present themselves for shifts looking clean, neat and professional.
