Training Manager
Based in Atlanta, GA and reporting to the Vice President of Administration and Legal Affairs, the Training Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's training programs across the United States and Canada. This role is critical in driving skills development, performance improvement, and employee engagement for a workforce that includes both field employees and office staff. The position focuses on building a culture of continuous learning, leadership development, and operational excellence within the fire safety and protection industry. The Training Manager will collaborate with HR teams, branch management, department heads, and subject matter experts to assess training needs, create targeted learning solutions, and foster organizational growth aligned with strategic business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and integration of a comprehensive Learning Management System (LMS) to streamline training and development initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless deployment, user adoption, and ongoing support for the LMS platform.
- Partner with HR, Operations, and Safety teams to ensure the workforce is equipped with the skills and knowledge to operate safely and efficiently in various environments.
- Develop and implement comprehensive virtual and on-site training programs including safety, technical, sales, leadership, and compliance training aligned with the fire protection and safety industry and corresponding regulations (e.g., NFPA standards) for the U.S. and Canada.
- Collaborate with HR, branch management, and/or department heads to design onboarding programs for new hires to ensure positive and effective onboarding and integration within the FSP organization.
- Enroll employees and track progress in external courses, such as NICET and CFAA certifications.
- Conduct regular assessments to understand employee development needs and deliver solutions that address gaps.
- Partner with HR on succession planning efforts, helping to identify high-potential employees and developing tailored development programs to ensure leadership continuity.
- Travel up to 30% throughout the U.S. and Canada to conduct training sessions, workshops, and meetings.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a training and development role, with demonstrated experience managing programs across the U.S. and Canada.
- Experience in the fire safety, protection services, construction, or a related industry is preferred.
- Proven experience in leadership development, talent management, and performance improvement. initiatives, with an emphasis on working with field/field-based employees.
- Experience in a private equity environment is a plus.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to deadlines in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive industry.
- Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS), e-learning tools, and performance management software.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence change at all levels of the organization.
- Capacity to adjust and implement training programs tailored to the needs of both U.S. and Canadian workforces.
- Understanding NICET and/or CFAA certifications is highly desirable.
- Understanding of regional differences in labor laws, compliance requirements, and training needs across North America.
- A forward-thinking approach to training and organizational development, leveraging technology and best practices to engage a diverse workforce.
