Training Specialist
Woodfords is growing and has an opening for a full-time (40 hours) Training Specialist within the Training and Resource Center in Westbrook. The Training and Resource Center is committed to enhancing the knowledge and skills of parents, caregivers, consumers, guardians, professionals and community members through quality trainings that facilitate growth and personal development. The Training Specialist will report directly to the Training and Resource Center Manager.
Salary Range: $36,000 - $38,000
Responsibilities:
- Provide orientation training weekly to new employees. Orientation training includes Violence in the Workplace, Health & Safety, Advocacy, and Documentation & Incident Reporting. Other classes may be added as needed.
- Achieve and maintain all instructor certifications required to carry out responsibilities including American Heart Association First Aid/CPR, Behavioral Health Professional, Child Passenger Safety, College of Direct Support and Safety-Care.
- Gain proficiency in the use of the virtual learning platform to facilitate training of remote learners.
- Maintain all teaching materials and equipment.
- Create, review and teach new curriculum for staff and external customer training.
- Collaborate with the Training Manager to add new courses as required for licensure, certification, to meet COA standards or based on the interest and/or needs of staff, consumers, families or the community.
- Oversee the administration of the Woodfords Child Passenger Safety Seat Distribution site in cooperation with the Bureau of Highway Safety.
- Complete special projects and assist with special trainings/conferences at the discretion of the Training & Resource Center Manager.
- Participate in assigned training collaborations outside of the agency.
- Participate in at least one Woodfords Family Services fundraising event yearly.
- Be available to teach occasional evening and weekend classes, as well as travel to satellite locations including Bangor, Oakland, Manchester, Topsham and Waterville.
- Perform additional position-related duties and assume other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Training & Resource Center Manager
Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor's degree with at least two years of relevant instructional experience.
- Familiarity with developmental disabilities is beneficial.
- Have experience in teaching adult learners.
- Have experience in research and curriculum development.
- Possess knowledge of and experience with computer technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Articulate.
- Be detail-oriented with excellent organization skills.
- Be flexible and creative.
- Be a team player with excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
